Hello! it's me, Denise G., WELCOME and THANK YOU for visiting my site.
I am the mother of three wonderful self-sufficient adult children, I am married to my best friend, and have been in the health care world for over 30+ years. I began my career in a hospital setting providing patient care and then transferred into the corporate headquarter setting when I moved to Dallas. I also worked for the National MS Society as their Walk Manager for 4 years. MS is an auto-immune disease and is something that I had been involved with for a good part of my life.
In 2005, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, yes, I was scared, but I forged ahead because, well, I had things to do, specifically planning MS walks to raise awareness and funds for research and a cure. I had a Lumpectomy and 3.5 months of radiation and I was good to go, and felt great. In 2015 I was diagnosed with it a second time! WAIT, WHAT?!..... okay fine, although not as simple as the first time around, I was determined that I would see this through with a positive attitude and determination. It also helped that I was surrounded by friends and family who loved me and provided me with the best support system anyone could ask for.
When 2015 came to an end, I decided to leave the stress of the corporate arena behind. I went back to school to become a licensed massage therapist so I could help others relieve their stress, feel better with healing through the power of touch. I completed 500+ hours of massage training as well as over 200 additional continued educational hours in Myofascial Release, Pre-Natal Therapy, Manual Lymph Therapy (MLD), Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular and Trigger Point, Forearms and Chair Massage. Through all of this, I found my passion in Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), or as I refer to it, Lymph Therapy. It is my goal to educate as many people as possible about the benefits of Lymph Therapy. I have just returned from Austria, June 2017 and have completed 160 hours with The Dr. Vodder International School of Lymphatic Drainage and I am a certified lymphatic therapist. I am able to treat all stages of lymphedema, cancer patients, specifically breast cancer as well as a multitude of pathologies not limited to autoimmune disorders, arthritis, pain management, pre and post surgery and more (see link for benefits of Lymph Therapy)
Pictured above are my two amazing grandson's that inspire me everyday. Blaze is on the left and Skylar is on the right. Now, you know why my business is called Blazing Sky Bodywork.
On Thursday mornings, you will find me at the Texas Oncology Center in Plano where I am a volunteer helping others get through their lives with cancer. I deeply believe in the healing potential of massage therapy, specifically Lymph Therapy and my goal as a therapist is to fully listen to my clients concerns and desires. I strive to provide a safe space for you, provide relaxation and rejuvenation through the benefits of bodywork and therapeutic massage.
